Let's face it: When you're bombarded with horrible news day in and day out, it's hard not to feel depressed and like the whole world is going to shit.
So you should probably look at the picture above every day. Several times. Maybe have it tattooed on your forearm so you can wear it. Because, yes, it's that important.
The next time you hear about that earthquake in Japan, that plane crash in Malaysia, that terrorist attack in Europe,, when you hear that the economy isn't doing as well as you thought it would, when it seems as if people don't have any values anymore... just sit back, look at your own little life in your own little neck of the woods (or city block), and think, "A lot of things are actually going pretty well."
And even if they're not, this is still a good thing to keep in mind. Even when your own life is dragging you down occasionally, when you reel from too much stress and your dog ate your homework and pooped it out on your new carpet and you feel a horrible cold coming on... when you just look closely enough, a lot of things are actually going pretty well.
You have a roof over your head, most likely a job to pay the bills, you have your health, your teeth, your limbs, your family, your friends. Even that it was sunny this morning falls under the "going pretty well" category, or the fact that you're still here drawing breath as we speak. Never take life for granted.
Now say it out loud with me: "A lot of things are actually going pretty well."
