A lot of people ask me, "Why can't I manifest a new car/job/partner? What am I doing wrong?"
One answer would be to list all the technical stuff you could get wrong: Maybe you didn't visualize vividly enough. Maybe you were sending mixed messages. Maybe you were too desperate to find a new job and so reinforced the wanting instead of the getting. But here's something most "LOA gurus" don't talk about. You see, there’s so much more to successful manifestation than most people think. It is pretty simple, but not necessarily easy. If it were, everyone would do it. (And even if you’re a manifestation expert, I can tell you from first-hand experience that you can still fall off the bandwagon and mess it all up because you don’t have the right attitude at times. I’ve been there.) The optimal mind set for successful manifestation is one of relaxation, contentment, and exhilaration—like a little kid on Christmas morning. If you come from a place of fear, disgust, resentment, etc., it just won’t work properly. Now, you may say: “But I just got laid off and need a job!” or “I hate my boss, that’s why I want to switch jobs!” So how are you supposed to get that happy-go-lucky mindset that’s needed to manifest something else? Here’s where the spiritual part comes in… and this is why I don’t like The Secret because it neglects the underlying philosophy of what I call “sustainable manifestation.” To achieve this attitude of relaxation, contentment, and exhilaration, you need to assume the 30,000-foot view. As long as you’re caught up in your daily grind, the next electric bill, the money for the kids’ back-to-school clothes, the angry boss, and the annoying coworker can appear to be all-consuming problems. So you need to step back from the pettiness and look at your life from the perspective of your Higher Self. Realize that you are a spiritual being (aka a soul) having a physical experience. Envision how before this lifetime, you were in your spiritual home beyond the veil, planning (possibly with the help of others) what you wanted this lifetime to be like. You plotted which family you’d be born into, what talents you’d bring into this life, and what challenges would be presented to you to make the experience more interesting and give you ample opportunity for growth and learning. Your task in this lifetime is not to avoid all challenges and problems… on the contrary, challenges and problems are the spice of your life, the real reason why you’re here. What’s important here is how you react to those challenges… what you do to overcome them… never giving up, never breaking, still maintaining an attitude of gratitude even in the face of great adversity. It’s a fact that we grow and learn the most in taxing rather than easy-going times. But you can make those taxing times easier by going with the flow, believing and trusting in Spirit, and having faith that you will be taken care of. And knowing that even if you die, you will be okay. Consider this thought for a moment: Even if you die, you will be okay. If you truly absorb this thought, what in the world could scare you? That’s why my personal brand of manifestation—which I call “sustainable manifestation”—has a deep spirituality at its core. Having faith in a Supreme Being… deeply believing that it has your best interests at heart… and having faith that there’s a life after death… gives your manifestation a whole other dimension. It also keeps you humble and hopefully will prevent you from falling into one of the worst LOA traps: the idea that you’re all-powerful and can/should have anything you want, just because you want it. “You can have anything you want” is the Dark Side’s line. It’s what the devil whispers in your ear. It’s dark sorcerer Aleister Crowley’s “Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law.” This is not what you should be shooting for when you set out to manifest, or you’ll end up in a whole lot of trouble. So you see, “sustainable manifestation” is much more than just rattling off a few affirmations or writing a manifestation listor visualizing with all of your senses. It’s about developing the right mind set… it’s about becoming the best version of yourself that you can be. Put your soul evolution first. Put Service to Othersfirst (rather than Service to Self). Put people first. Put love first. Put stuff second (“stuff” includes anything from your unpaid medical bill to the gorgeous red dress you saw at the mall). And when you put all those things first that I told you, the “stuff” will fall into place all by itself. |
