The word “want” implies that you don’t have what you desire. You’re basically telling Spirit that you’re in a state of lack and discontent.
Some LOA authors say it's because "the Universe" doesn't understand negatives like "don't," "never," and "isn't." In my opinion, that's a bunch of nonsense and would only applies if there's really a mechanistic "Universe"—basically a big Amazon in the sky—that fulfills all your wishes, but only if you hit the right buttons to order. I believe it's important to keep the Creator in the creation, in other words, to acknowledge that there's a sentient, personal God who created everything and who, if we align our will with His, can help us achieve a good life and abundance. The right attitude for successful manifestation is to know that what you want is already here and it simply needs to manifest in your 3D reality… and to feel joyful and grateful about receiving it. Many people ask me how to do this—convincing yourself that what you want is already here. Here’s how I personally do it. Believe in God’s grace. If you’re a very spiritual person, you can suspend disbelief by firmly trusting that God will provide for you (“Ask and you shall receive”) and that under His grace you will see the desired results. Trust that through God’s unlimited kindness, all your needs are already met—all you have to do is ask in order to see them manifest. This is what Florence Scovel Shinn did, a Law of Attraction pioneer who was a devout Christian. Check out her book, The Game of Life and How to Play It.
